Aloha. The third part of our canyon tour leads to Hawaii, to Waimea Canyon. The canyon measures just 16 kilometers and is thus quickly flown through. Therefore, as in the previous parts, it will not only be a flight through the canyon, but you will also be presented with other sights of the small island of Kauai.
Waimea is Hawaiian and means “reddish water”, a reference to the erosion of the red rock of the canyon. The canyon was formed by a deep cut in the Waimea River caused by extreme rainfall on the island’s central peak, Mount Waiʻaleʻale, one of the wettest places on earth.
Enjoy flying and exploring, Koschi.
